Cliffhanger with a Breath Taking View

Fox Docks has many skills as a custom dock builder. Constructing and installing a seating area, pier, and floating slip on the side of a steep shoreline is no problem. There is nothing like the beautiful view from a hill top seating area over looking the lake.

Johnson's Project

Seating Area with Ramp, Stairs, and Floating Slip

* Pilings: There are marine grade wood pilings driven into the lake bed to support the frame of the seating area, platform, ramp, two stair systems, and floating slip. X-bracing was installed where needed.

* Frame: The frame of the seating area, platform, ramp, stair systems and floating slip consists of 2 x 8 pressure treated lumber fastened together with galvanized rust resistant bolts.

* Frame Encasements: Pressure treated 2 x 10 lumber was through bolted to the side of each frame with galvanized rust resistant bolts. The 2 x 10 lumber encased the frames and created an inset decking effect.

* Floatation: Black Formex floats bolted to the frame with glavanized rust resistant bolts.

* Dock Rubbers and Cleats: Black Astro Nautics dock rubbers where nailed to the side of the floating slip frame with black PolyTop nails. Four cleats were bolted to the frame of the floating slip with galvanized bolts.

* Decking: Ivory colored Azek decking fastened down with stainless steel decking screws.

* Handrails and Gate: 6 x 6 pressure treated handrail posts with white vinyl sleeves, pickets, and posts caps. The 6 x 6 posts are through bolted to the side of the frame on the seating area, platform, ramp, and stair systems with galvenized bolts.

* Seating Area Roof: Stick built hip roof with 6 x 6 roof posts with white vinyl sleeves that are bolted to the frame of the seating area with galvenized bolts. Banding of the roof is 2 x 8 pressure treated lumber. The roof consists of Spruce Pine lumber with a mixture of 2 x 4 and 2 x 6 pressure treated lumber. 1 x 4 dead wood was installed to the top of the roof. The tin roofing was fastened to the 1 x 4 wood with stainless steel screws. The fascia board is ivory colored Azek decking fastened into place with stainless steel decking screws.
